Learn Spanish with AI: 6 Apps and a Daily Routine (2026)
Most people who have studied Spanish for a while can read more than they can say, because apps and classes give them very little time to speak. AI is good at exactly that gap: a patient partner who talks with you every day.
To learn Spanish with AI, talk to an AI Spanish tutor for ten minutes a day, review its corrections, and repeat; Fuego is built for that loop, by voice or by text (we make Fuego). If you want long conversations and a human tutor later, try Langua. If you are a beginner who wants a guided path, try Speak. If you already have a Duolingo streak, add Duolingo Max.
- The routine below takes 20 minutes: 3 for words, 10 for talking, 3 for corrections and 4 for flashcards, plus a real person once a week if you can.
- Fuego does the review steps inside the app, and its tutor speaks the Spanish of Spain without correcting Latin American forms (we make Fuego).
- The US Foreign Service Institute puts Spanish at about 552 to 690 class hours for English speakers. AI does not shorten that; it lets more of it be speaking.
Try it now, no download needed. Fuego has no web app, but the 1,000 common Spanish words list is free in your browser. Every word has an English meaning, an example sentence, audio and a picture, and a test mode hides the meanings so you can check yourself. It is step 1 of the routine below.

How we picked
We chose tools that let you hold a conversation in Spanish, since speaking is what most learners lack, and added ChatGPT because so many people try it first. For each one we read the company's own website, help center or US App Store listing on October 6, 2026, and noted what you do in it, whether it works by voice, what you can use for free, how you pay and where it runs. Langua and Speak both appear in the leading Spanish-with-AI reviews in search, so we checked them with extra care. We did not print prices, because they change by country and by sale, and the store shows yours. We did not hold long Spanish conversations in every app, so this compares what each company publishes. Fuego is ours, so its entry comes from the app itself.
How to learn Spanish with AI: a 20-minute daily routine
A routine beats a marathon. Small and daily is what builds speaking confidence, and twenty minutes fits most days.
1. Warm up with words (3 minutes)
Learn or review a few common words with audio before you talk, so you have something to say. Our 1,000 common Spanish words list is free on the web, in themed sets, with a test mode.
2. Talk (10 minutes)
Have one conversation with your AI tutor. Say what you did yesterday, what you plan this weekend, or argue about something you care about. Speak if you can; type if you are on a train. Do not stop to look things up: say it the long way round and let the tutor fix it.
3. Read the corrections (3 minutes)
Do not skip this. Read each corrected sentence and the one-line reason, then say the corrected version out loud once. This is where the conversation turns into learning.
4. Review your flashcards (4 minutes)
Go through your flashcards so yesterday's words stick. A few minutes of review now saves relearning later.
5. Repeat tomorrow, and talk to a person weekly
Tomorrow, do it again. Once a week, if you can, talk to a real person: a friend, a language exchange, or a teacher on italki or Preply. You will notice the AI practice paying off.
Which parts of Spanish does AI practice help with most?
The mistakes that only show up when you speak. Grammar drills teach you the rule for ser and estar; a conversation shows you whether you can use it at speaking speed. The same goes for the two past tenses, fui or iba, compré or compraba, which almost every learner mixes up for months. Gender agreement (mucha fruta, not mucho fruta) is another one that slips out in conversation long after you know it on paper. And then there is speed: Spanish speakers talk fast, so a tutor that can slow its voice down, then speed it up as your ear improves, is worth more than another reading exercise.
1. Fuego : best for conversation with review built in
- Pick it if
- You want to talk every day and have the review done for you.
- Skip it if
- You are preparing for the DELE or another exam.
Fuego is an AI language tutor you talk to by voice or by text. You hold a button and speak, let go, and hear the reply, or you type. The tutor replies naturally, asks you something back so the conversation keeps going, and shows you the corrected sentence with the reason in one line. Here is a sample of the shape, written by us:
You: Estoy cansado porque es lunes y soy en la oficina todo el día.
Fuego: Uf, los lunes son lo peor. ¿Y qué haces para desconectar cuando sales?
Better: Estoy cansado porque es lunes y estoy en la oficina todo el día.
Where you are takes estar, not ser.
After every conversation you get a short recap: what went well, the words worth keeping and your corrections. The words you struggled with shape your next flashcards, and your mistakes come back as a quick fix, so steps 3 and 4 of the routine happen inside the app. You can replay any reply at a slower speed, tap a word to translate it, and save a word to your cards. A daily plan built for you adds listening, reading and word packs from 1,000 core Spanish words.
Best for: Learners who want the conversation itself to be the lesson, with the review done for them.
Consider: Fuego does not prepare you for DELE or other exams, it needs a connection, and it runs on iPhone, iPad and Android only. Fuego is a subscription app. Your first conversation with the tutor is free, and words, flashcards, reading, listening and the daily plan stay free.
2. Langua : best for long conversations
- Pick it if
- You are intermediate and want long conversations.
- Skip it if
- You want a roomy free plan; the daily allowance is small.
Langua, from LanguaTalk, lets you call its AI tutor or chat by text. Its voices are cloned from native speakers, and its corrections come with explanations. The same company vets its own human tutors, so you can add a person later without changing apps. It runs on iPhone, Android and the web.
Best for: Intermediate learners who want long conversations and maybe a human tutor later.
Consider: The free plan is a small daily allowance, then Standard or Unlimited, priced in the app.
3. Speak : best for guided beginners
- Pick it if
- You are starting Spanish from zero and want a set path.
- Skip it if
- You want open chat with the AI without Premium Plus.
Speak teaches Spanish with a set method: learn the phrases native speakers use, drill them until they come naturally, then use them in conversation with Speak Tutor, its AI. It is mobile only.
Best for: Beginners who want structure before they talk freely.
Consider: Speak starts with a 7-day free trial, then Premium or Premium Plus, and open chat with Speak Tutor sits in Premium Plus.
4. Duolingo Max : best if you already have a streak
- Pick it if
- You already have a Duolingo Spanish streak.
- Skip it if
- You want conversation to be the center of the course.
Duolingo Max adds Video Call, an open voice conversation with the character Lily, and Roleplay to the Duolingo Spanish course. If you already open Duolingo every day, it is the smallest step toward speaking.
Best for: Duolingo users who want to talk without starting over in a new app.
Consider: Duolingo is free, but Video Call needs Max, and Max is sold in the mobile apps. Conversation is an add-on to the course, not the center of it.
5. Praktika : best for talking to an avatar
- Pick it if
- Talking to a face helps you relax.
- Skip it if
- You would rather talk to a voice than an animated character.
Praktika gives you AI tutors as animated characters with their own accents and backstories, and runs lessons and conversations with them. You can set how strict the feedback is. It runs on iPhone, Android and the web.
Best for: Learners who relax more when they talk to a face.
Consider: The app is a free download, and the full product is a subscription.
6. ChatGPT : best if you want to build your own lessons
- Pick it if
- You enjoy designing your own practice.
- Skip it if
- You want your level and mistakes tracked for you.
ChatGPT is a general chatbot, and its voice mode lets you speak Spanish with it. It will do almost anything you ask, which is both its strength and its catch: you write the instructions, decide what to practice and keep your own word lists.
Best for: Self-directed learners who enjoy designing their own practice.
Consider: It does not track your level or your mistakes for you unless you set that up, and it will not bring yesterday's words back by itself.
Which one should you pick?
- You want to talk every day and have the review done for you: Fuego.
- You are intermediate and want long calls, maybe a human tutor later: Langua.
- You are starting from zero and want a set path: Speak.
- You already have a Duolingo Spanish streak: Duolingo Max.
- Talking to a face helps you relax: Praktika.
- You like to design your own lessons: ChatGPT.
Whichever you choose, run it through the routine above for two weeks before you judge it.
What can't AI do for your Spanish?
Be honest with yourself about three limits. First, an AI is not a person: it will not laugh at your joke the way a friend in Madrid does, and getting comfortable with real people is a separate step. Second, an AI tutor can be wrong now and then, so if a correction looks odd, check it. Third, no app makes you fluent by itself. Use AI for the daily speaking practice, and add listening to real Spanish, reading, and real conversations when you can.
How long does it take to learn Spanish with AI?
AI does not change how much practice Spanish takes; it changes how much of that practice can be speaking. The US Foreign Service Institute puts Spanish in its easiest group for English speakers, at about 24 to 30 weeks of full-time class, or 552 to 690 class hours, to reach professional working proficiency. Most adults have twenty minutes a day, not six hours, so expect a longer road. Daily conversation practice lets you use what you know much earlier on that road.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best AI to learn Spanish?
The best one makes you speak Spanish every day and corrects you in a way you understand. Langua and Speak are popular for conversation, Duolingo Max adds video calls to a course many people already use, and Fuego gives you open conversation by voice or text with a recap and review built in.
Is ChatGPT good for learning Spanish?
It can be a useful practice partner, and its voice mode lets you speak. The catch is that you have to tell it what to do every time, and it does not track your level or your mistakes for you unless you set that up. A dedicated AI Spanish tutor handles that structure for you.
Can I start Spanish from zero with an AI tutor?
Yes. With Fuego, set your level low on the slider when you start; the tutor keeps its Spanish simple and explains in your language, then re-reads your level as you talk. Pair it with a list of common words so you have something to say from day one.
Do I have to speak out loud?
No. With Fuego you can hold the button and speak, or type. It is the same tutor with the same corrections either way, so you can type on a train and speak at home.
Is AI good for Spanish pronunciation?
It helps most with your ear and your confidence. With Fuego you can replay any reply at a slower speed and copy it, which trains you to hear and say Spanish at a pace you can follow. For feedback on single sounds, Pimsleur's Voice Coach compares your pronunciation with native speakers, and a human teacher remains the best judge of your accent.
Will I learn Spain or Latin American Spanish?
Fuego's tutor speaks the Spanish of Spain, with vosotros and Spain's everyday words, and our 1,000-word list is Spain Spanish too. If you use Latin American forms, the tutor understands them and never corrects them. Either way, you will understand speakers from Spain and from Latin America.
How much does it cost to learn Spanish with AI?
It depends on whether you pay a person or an app. On italki, Spanish teachers set their own hourly prices. AI tutor apps usually charge a subscription, and many let you start for free. Fuego is a subscription app: your first conversation with the tutor is free, and words, flashcards, reading, listening and the daily plan stay free. The store shows the price in your country.
Is there a free AI Spanish tutor?
Several let you start free. Langua has a small daily allowance, Speak has a 7-day free trial, Duolingo is free though its Video Call needs Max, and with Fuego your first conversation with the tutor is free. Our 1,000 common Spanish words list is free on the web with no download.
