Delete your account
Last updated 3 August 2026.
You can have your Fuego account and everything attached to it erased. This page tells you how to ask, what goes, what stays, and how long it takes.
Cancel your subscription first. Deleting your account does not stop billing. Apple and Google own that relationship, not us. Cancel in your phone's subscription settings, then ask us to delete. The support page has the steps for both stores.
How to request deletion
- Cancel your subscription in the App Store or Google Play, if you have one.
- Email privacy@heyfuego.com from the address on your account, with the subject "Delete my account".
- We confirm the request from the same address. This step exists so nobody can delete your account by writing to us pretending to be you.
- We erase the data and email you when it is done.
We complete deletions within 30 days of confirming the request, and usually much sooner. The request itself costs nothing.
What gets deleted
- Your account record: the sign-in identifier, your email address, and your name
- Every chat message, in both directions, including transcripts of voice sessions
- Your tutor memory and its full version history
- Your learning profile, level, and placement results
- Your flashcards and their review schedule
- Your exercises, the answers you submitted, and your skill scores
- Your push notification token
- Your entitlement record, including trial dates and voice minute balances
- Your Firebase Authentication user
What does not get deleted, and why
- Backups, for up to about three months. Backups are snapshots we cannot edit in place. They are kept for 7 days, 4 weeks, and 3 months on a rolling basis, and are only ever used to restore the whole system after a failure. Your data rolls out of them on that schedule.
- Purchase records held by Apple, Google, and RevenueCat. They keep transaction history under their own policies and their own retention rules. Ask them directly.
- Synthesised lesson audio. The audio the tutor speaks in listening exercises is generated from lesson text, cached, and shared between learners who get the same sentence. It contains no recording of you and nothing that identifies you, so we keep it.
- Support email. If you have written to us, that thread stays in our mailbox unless you ask us to remove it too. Say so in your request and we will.
We never stored your voice recordings, so there is nothing to delete there. See the privacy policy for how audio is handled.
Deleting some things instead of everything
You do not have to go all or nothing. Inside the app you can delete individual items from what the tutor remembers about you, and you can turn off notifications in your phone's settings, which removes the push token. To delete your conversation history but keep your account, say that in your email and we will do it.
Getting a copy first
Deletion is final. If you want your data before it goes, ask for an export in the same email and we will send you a machine-readable copy before erasing anything.
